USA expected to host Women’s World Cup in 2031, could be joined by other Concacaf nations

The US is on its way to hosting the World Cup World of 2031 with other North American countries, while the VK will hold the subsequent edition in 2035, with FIFA that confirms on Thursday that these were the only bids for the rights to organize both tournaments.

The Deadline of FIFA to submit bids for the hosting rights on both competition is Saturday, although no other countries seem ready to show interest. All countries that get the deadline from Saturday will then have until 5 May to confirm their bids by submitting the bidding agreement.

US Soccer had previously shown interest in organizing the World Cup 2027 World Cup, but announced a shift to the 2031 tournament last year. The first bid included Mexico and CBS Sports last month that the neighboring nation could still organize matches in 2031, although American football could expand the hosting rights to other confaf countries, because FIFA is looking out how many teams will participate in the 2031 tournament. FIFA expanded the World Cup men from 32 to 48 teams, starting with the 2026 edition, co-host of the US, Mexico and Canada, and that expansion could come to the women’s competition on time before 2031.

“We are enthusiastic about the possibility of organizing the FIFA World Cup 2031 World Cup in 2031 and are in collaboration with our Concacaf partners dedicated to delivering a tournament that leaves a permanent inheritance – one that rises women’s football and inspiring future generations of players and fans,” US Soccer said in a statement on Thursday. “While FIFA is completing the number of participating teams in the tournament, we will solidify our partnership structure with colleague -concacaf -countries. We look forward to sharing more details and reveal our full vision for the FIFA World Cup 2031 in the near future.”

The US previously organized the World Cup World Cup in 1999 and 2003, in which the American women’s national team won the second of their four titles during the 1999 competition. The 2003 edition would be organized in China, but the outbreak of Sars saw FIFA moving to the US

By the time the 2031 tournament takes place, the US also has the experience with hosting two world cups for men in 1994 and 2026.

The 2035 edition will now be a joint effort between England, Scotland, Wales and Noord -IILAND. None of those countries has previously organized a World Cup for women, although England organized the World Cup men in 1966, when the hosts won their only title. England also organized the 2022 Ladies-Euro, who set attendees and viewers records and indicated a new era of growth for the women’s game in the football-loving nation.

“We are honored to be the only bidder for the World Cup 2035 World Cup 2035. Organizing the first FIFA World Cup Since 1966 with our partners of Home Nations will be very special. The hard work is now starting to put together the best possible offer at the end of the year,” said England Fa CEO Mark Bullingham in a statement.

FIFA will formalize the World Cup hosts from 2031 and 2035 in the second quarter of 2026.
