What does the last four mean for Gamecocks and Longhorns?

This was expected for South Carolina. Dawn Staley’s Squad has established himself as a powerhouse in women’s basketball looking for his third title in four years. But for Texas it is just his second final four and the first since 1986. The Longhorn in the previous four seasons got to three elite eight, but the VIC Schaefer team finally got through the hump this year.

South Carolina

Gamecocks (34-3) is trying to become the fourth team that won the Back-to-Back titles, joined Tennessee, South California and Final Four participant Uconn. Dawn Staley led South Carolina to three national championships since the transition to Columbia and raised the trophy in 2017, 2022 and 2024.

South Carolina boasts a solid core led by Joyce Edwards, Milaysia Fulwiley and Chloe Kitts, who in the season on average diameter of double -digit points.

Texas

It can be the first Texas final in almost four decades, but Longhorns are familiar with the tournament game. This season they achieved their fourth elite eight years in five years before taking off the upper frogs led by Hailey van Lith to make a trip to Tampa.

Texas, however, has a serious obstacle to overcome in Gamecocks. Both enemies divided the SEC regular season, but South Carolina sailed around Longhorns in the game Sec Championship, 64-45. The Staley team defeated Texas with a combined 36 points in their two victories, while Longhorns gained only four points in their lonely victory at home.

But Longhorns boasts a strong crime powered by Forward Madison Booker, which average 16.5 points, while shooting almost 50% of the field. When Texas took them off, Booker dropped to Gamecocks 20 and Texas will probably need another big game from Sophomore to detride the defending champions.

Wrestle

Conference enemies of the line -up quite on paper each average about the same points per game and allowed points. Gamecocks hold the edge in a 3-point percent (33.7%) when Texas is below 30%. However, these teams are more than familiar with the other style, and this game could descend into the box like Staley and Vic Schaefer Gameplan for their fourth match this season.
