Purdue, Illinois return in Andy Katz’s latest Power 37 rankings
In the weekly word we have to give a cry of five coaches who did a huge work this season and who do not receive the necessary national pub.
1. Penny Hardaway, Memphis: Hardaway, in his seventh season, and this season did his best coaching work in his Alma mater. I saw it first hand in Maui, because this team is very enjoyable to be together. Found the right pieces and got from everyone. This comes after he had to replace his coaching staff before the start of the season. Hardaway is ready to be ready to be a real threat to get to San Antonio.
2. Chris Collins, Northwestern: Michigan state coach Tom Izzo told me last Wednesday that the coach of the year should be Collins in a large ten. May be right. Collins still has Wildcats on board for a possible NCAA offer, although he lost a combined 30 points game with the ending season Brooks Barnhizer and Jalen Leach. Northwestern won in Minnesota and Ohio and took off Iowa to create a clearing with UCLA on Monday evening before finishing in Maryland. Northwestern still has an outer shot on a single farewell in the Big Ten tournament. It is just amazing that Wildcats are still alive for all their goals.
3. Eric I AM, UC San Diego: Olen has Tritons in the first place in the Great West in their first NCAA tournament season. Tritons won the state of Utah earlier in the season. It was obviously no coincidence. Voluli have been in mid -December.
4. Kyle Smith, Stanford: Smith won at every stop and there was no doubt that he would win in Stanford. However, the Cardinal in ACC was not an easy task. Yet Stanford enters the last week 11-7 in the league and a fixed position to be at least on the thread team. Cardinal won one of his two victories on the ACC road in North Carolina (the second was in the opponent CAL). More tests will come in Notre Dame and Louisville this week to see if they can push at least one.
5. Phil Martelli Jr., Bryant: East dominated Vermont, yet Bryant is on the verge of getting the highest seed at the American Eastern Tournament. The program was unrest in a year ago when Jared Grasso resigned in November 2023. Martelli Jr. He was an assistant at that time and took the program and took his imprint on him in the last year.

March Madness National Player of the Week
Chucky Hepburn, Louisville: The Wisconsin Guard of the transfer was one of the main reasons for the revival of the Cardinals. And last week was the best. He dropped 37 points, four rebounds, four assists and two thefts with just two turns in 79-68 victories over Pitt. At the beginning of the week he scored 15 points and had six assists (yes, six turnover, but well) in victory 71-66 in Virginia Tech. This season, Hepburn average 16.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and six assists, while shooting 45.2 percent of ACC cardinals in second place (with Clemson).
March Madness National Team of the Week
Xavier: I was thinking a lot about teams that had great weeks and significant victories to get either calm or maybe a lot of main conference titles like: Auburn (sec), St. John’s (Big East), Houston (Big 12) and Michigan State (Big Ten). But no team on the bubble had a better week than Xavier. Musketeers won in Seton Hall (after the last Pirates home was a victory over UConn in OT) and then absolutely crushed Creighton 83-61. Musketeers won five in a row and have a legitimate shot to close the season on seven gaming lanes, with games remaining in Butler and against providence. Xavier is directly on the bubble and desperately needed Creighton victory. The Big East wins over Uconn and Marquette to win each of the best teams in the Grand East outside St. John’s (lost 10 at home but lost 8 in OT in New York).
Top 10 March Madness Games of the Week
Kansas in Houston, Monday: Cougars won Big 12. Kansas is lost at home Texas Tech. Jayhawks needs something positive in front of the Big 12 tournament. It may not come in this game.
Indiana in Oregon, Tuesday: Hoosiers (victory in Michigan and Purdue) played on the bubble and victory in Oregon and home victory over Ohio could offer an offer.
Byu in the state Iowa, Tuesday: Cougars will want to run and push the pace while Cyclones have a defense to stop victory in six games Cougars.
Florida in Alabama, Wednesday: The tide comes by a stunning loss in Tennessee near the buzzer. Florida defeated Texas A&M and the second place is on the Sec line.
Maryland in Michigan, Wednesday: In this match in Ann Arbor, it could be double after the Big Ten tournament at Big Ten.
Purdue in Illinois, Friday: Boilermakers and Illini had a monster win, with Purduea beat UCL and Illinois win in Michigan. This game will affect the Big Ten.
Dayton on VCU, Friday: Rams are likely to win A-10, but leaflets can have the greatest talent. This could be a good predecessor of the potential semifinals or A-10 finals, depending on how the seeds are shaking.
Alabama in Auburn, Saturday: Auburn has Alabama in Tuscaloose. Auburn will be absolutely Bonkers for the return of rivalry. The game will not affect the title of SEC, but will have a word about Alabam’s Sec Sec. This will be the best SEC rivalry for the coming years.
Duke in North Carolina, Saturday: This is the greatest rivalry in sports. And after they got completely smoothed in Durham, Tar Heels must try a lot of revenge. They also desperately need it to make an offer.
Michigan in Michigan, Sunday: The Spartans are likely to win Big directly, but this rival game will still add.
