The Washington Capital and Tampa Bay Lightning honored the victims of the Flight 5342 fall during the Saturday afternoon game. Both teams had a Calcomania in honor of those affected by the tragedy, and the capitals would host “Legacy on Ice” to benefit the families of victims on Sunday.

Before the face of Saturday afternoon, the capitals announced that teams would carry special calets that would have a figure skate and a hockey skate inside a heart. It also includes the date of the fall, on January 29.

That day, an American Airlines flight with 67 people Collided with a military helicopter on the outskirts of Ronald Reagan National Airport. Everyone on board was assassinated, including numerous members of the skating community.

“North -American figure skating can confirm that several members of our skating community were sadly aboard the American Airlines Flight 5342, which collided with a helicopter last night in Washington, DC,” said skating in the United States figure in a statement. “We are devastated by this indisputable tragedy and we closely maintain the families of the victims in our hearts.”

On Sunday, the capitals are welcoming “Legacy on Ice” to raise money for families and loved ones of victims.
