Inter Miami vs. Philadelphia Union prediction, where to watch, live stream: MLS odds, will Lionel Messi play?
The Chase Stadium of Inter Miami is organizing a collision on top of MLS ‘Eastern Conference between Inter Miami and the Philadelphia Union on Saturday evening. Although the herons were expected to be the elite of the competition, it was an early surprise that the Union of Bradley Carnell joined them.
As many of the season so far, Miami will wonder whether Lionel Messi will be available for the game after a hamstring tribe while confronted with Atlanta United. Messi missed the international duty for Argentina, wins in Uruguay and the home base of Brazil, because of that injury, but the free time can be enough for him to face the Union.
Miami has been careful with Messi this season, because the Argentinian could only be seen in five of Miami’s eight games in all competitions. He has still been effective and registered a goal or an assist in every game for which he has been available, but because of the form of players such as Telasco Segovia and Tadeo Allende, Javier Mascherno has had flexibility.
Miami has to lose another competition during the young season, but if there is a team that can push them here, it is the union that stands on top of the table and is equal with the Vancouver WhiteCaps for most points in MLS so far.
Here are storylines, how you can view the competition and more:
How to look at Inter Miami vs. Philadelphia Union, Opportunities
- Date: Saturday March 29 | Time: 7:30 pm
- Location: Chase Stadium – Fort Lauderdale, Florida
- Live stream: MLS Season Pass
- Chances: Inter Miami -155; Drawing +340; Philadelphia Union +340
Last meeting
Miami has so far dominated the Union with the Reigers who win four of the last five meetings between the duo, with the Union only won one of them. Their last meeting was in September 2024, with the herons jumping to a 2-1 lead in half behind a Messi brace before Luis Suarez scored an insurance goal. These teams have since changed drastically, with both even new coaches, but if history has to become the judge, this can be a high scoring affair.
What the coaches say
Speaking prior to the competition, Mascherano expects Messi to return to the Union in a certain capacity, which would be a pretty blessing for the attack. Because of the international break, he did not miss a competition for the herons with his last injury, but if there is a time when they need it, it is to face the Union.
“Leo is good, God prepared and if nothing weird happens, he will be named after the MatchDay selection,” said Mascherano. “Well, we have taken it gradually. In that sense, Leo is a very special player, a player who, well, of course, sometimes has to be limited, so he does not take any risks, but he also knows his body very well, and the reality is that he is increasingly training.” Said Mascherano.
It is important to note that Mascherano does not say that Messi will start the game, but this is still a welcome appearance for the team that does not want to spend more time without their talisman than necessary.
What’s at stake
It can be early, but the top of the Eastern Conference is for the taking. For Miami they want to break their own record for most points in a regular season of MLS of 74, but to do that, they have to pass the trade union. For the union, after missing the play -offs last season, they are already on the right track to be one of the teams to make this season, but this is a chance for the Carnell team to actually be treated as contenders. Although they played Playoff teams from last season, it is not the same as turning a side of Miami that everyone expects to win the competition and push them to the MLS Cup.
Predicted line -Ups
Inter Miami: Oscar Ustari, Jordi Alba, Noah Allen, Maximilian
Philadelphia Union: Andre Blake, Kai Wagner, Olwethu Makhanya, Jakob Glesnes, Nathan Harriel, Jovan Lukic, Danley Jean Jacques, Quinn Sullivan, Daniel Gazdag, Tai Baribo, Mikael Uhre
Player to watch
Tadeo Allende, Inter Miami: Renend on the ground since he came to the Herons of Celta Vigo, when Messi does not play, Allende is one of the first players to make it happen in the attack. Although he has had no problems scoring four goals in all competitions, the defense of the trade union there with Miamis was one of the best in the competition. Being able to score on the union when more teams get tape in what he can do, will be a good explanation for someone who could go one of the best additions to a team during this season.
Storyline to view
Will Lionel Messi play? Signs can indicate the Argentinian being in the team, but depending on how the collision goes, there is certainly a chance that he will not stand up. When Miami traveled to Houston, Messi did not play because of the herons who went early and the goal would probably be the same on Saturday. However, the trade union is not the dynamo and will give Miami everything they can handle, probably lead to an appearance of Miami’s number 10. If Messi plays, his appearances will be at stake during registering a goal contribution.
Prediction
This is a fairly difficult match to gauge a prediction where both teams are. The trade union scored for fun while their press teams torture in the structure. Miami is just as comfortable to go with the ball for a long time when they pass on a team to submission, which should ensure a great football match. Everything, from a 0-0 draw to a 3-2 barn burner, can happen, but I think the points will be shared in Chase Stadium. Choose: Inter Miami 2, Philadelphia Union 2
