- LSU, George Mason, VCU, UCL and NC State all created history as the lowest seeds that have ever been the final four-all of them won significant margins against their first round. Loyola Chicago also created Final Four as 11, but her first round was much closer than you.
- Pepperdine beat Indiana in a 20-point outbreak, 77-57, in the last game Bobby Knight as a coach Hoosiers. It was the biggest 11 above 6 margins ever.
How much is more likely to upset 11-6 than the disturbance of 12-5?
57 12-5 disturbances have appeared since the NCAA field expansion. This is almost 11 over 6, which happened only five times after the expansion.
Recent/unforgettable 11-6 games
In 2025, Drake took off Missouri in the first victory in the first round since the 1985 tournament expanded.
In 2024, the state was one of three seeds No. 11, which won in the first round. Wolfpack eventually reached Final Four.
In 2021, UCLA and Syracus pulled out the victory. Bruins then marched memorable to the national semifinals – from the first four to the finals four.
