Harry Kane is still thinking about kicking field goals in the NFL — even after scoring in Champions League
While Harry Kane was able to push Bayern Munich to the victory in the first stage of their Champions League Knock -Out Play -Off against Celtic, after the game he thought of another sport when he thinks about the Super Bowl as he talked With the Champions League Studio Crew from CBS Sport. Kane has long been New England Patriots fan, and although he had no rooting interest in the Super Bowl, the sport remains in mind.
When asked by the crew whether he would like to help comment on the Super Bowl when it is on CBS, Kane had other ideas.
“I would rather be there to kick it when I’m honest. I am not a coverage type player and I don’t think about that yet, but who knows,” said Kane. “I will never say, I love my NFL and I have enjoyed it for a long time, and yes, it would be nice to join you and girls and have a chat.”
Football players have transitions to NFL kickers such as the Brandan Aubrey of the Dallas Cowboys who made 76 of the 85 field goals in his career. He was a university star at Notre Dame, was a first round pick in the MLS Superdraft 2017 and then started kicking in 2019.
Although it is still too viewed if Kane ever comes to a serious level in sport, even age would not be a problem for Kane because kickers are a position that players can continue well into the forty, a kind of similar keepers in football. Adam Vinatieri and Phil Dawson are a few examples of that, so there is enough reason to believe that Kane can make the switch when he hangs his football cleats if he wishes.
“It is something in mind. Of course I was asked before and my focus is here and the Champions League with Bayern Munich,” Kane continues. “But yes, it is something I would like to explore on a future date, but that’s all for now. I first got ahead of many years, so we have to wait.”
With a victory over the first legs at Celtic in Scotland, Kane is preparing well for making the Tour of 16 and chasing the always elusive first big trophy of his career. He will still have to kick a lot to help Bayern achieve their goals, but it will just be a ball that goes in the back of the net rather than between the standing – something he was very good at during his career.
