Florian Wirtz injury: Knee issue forces Bayer Leverkusen superstar out for Champions League vs. Bayern Munich

The hope of Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and Champions League today received a devastating blow with the news that Florian Wirtz has sustained a ligament injury in his right knee that will put him aside for a few weeks.

Wirtz was left on the couch for the first half of the 2-0 defeat of Saturday at home with Werder Bremen, a match he entered during the break when Leverkusen attempted to turn their early shortage. However, Wirtz would only take 14 minutes before he had to leave the game after an error and he was soon seen who left the Bay Arena on crutches.

With Leverkusen who offered to destroy a shortage of three goals in the second stage of their Champions League round of 16 draw against Bayern Munich, the injury of Wirtz could not be poorly timed.
