England squad: Three Lions vets Kyle Walker, Jordan Henderson back; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jack Grealish out

Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker are among the surprise inclusions after Thomas Tuchel called his first team as head coach of England.

Veterans Henderson and Walker, the most important components of Gareth Southgate’s Squadrons, the semi -finals of the World Cup in 2018 and three years later European championships were accompanied by the recurring Marcus Rashford in the 26 -Man Group that will be confronted against Albania and Latvia in England in England in England in England in England in England in England Qualifications for the 2026 World Cup.

However, a remarkably experienced team makes room for the first time call-ups, Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly and then Burn van Newcastle hoping to win their first caps. Jarrel Quansah and James Trafford will both offer to earn their first caps previously called, the former part of the provisional group for Euro 2024. Burnley Donigning Trafford is the only representative of the championship.

However, there is no room for Jack Grealish, struggling for form with Manchester City, while Liam Delap’s rich run of goals’ goals with Ipswich has not been enough to earn a place in Tuchel’s first team. Morgan Gibbs-White and Adam Wharton are also among the younger players who do not come up with plans either.

In the meantime, Tuchel confirmed that Harry Kane, whom he coached in Bayern Munich, will remain his captain. “It’s a pleasure to work with him,” said Tuchel. “We have a proven target scorer at the highest level. He has the most caps and he has the most goals, so that he sets the records and determines the standards when it comes down to it. We have many expectations because we already know him.

Here is our analysis of some of the big calls that Tuchel has made.

The old guard returns

The boys are back in the city. Spread the word around. Walker and Henderson in particular should be the remains of ancient England, the last by Southgate on the eve of Euro 2024 in what felt like a new start for a man who finally happened, expected to leave.

Neither of the players has mainly picked up trees since the summer tournament. Walker went on loan to AC Milan where his shape has been unobtrusive. Henderson started with one of the last eight matches of Ajax. In the meantime, there is no opportunity for Ben White Right back, nor for dynamos such as Gibbs-White and Wharton in midfield. All that part of the England fan base that expects their team to win every match, she will win well, plays with composures and blood that grumble the young things.

However, it may be worth considering the case for the defense. Henderson and Walker know this setup and everyone, the latter now with a realistic prospect to get the seven caps, he must become an English centurion. Both are old enough to have seen how successful changing rooms work on the international stage and to have observed some of the chaos of previous years. That is something the new call -ups need. This also applies to the new head coach, who comes to the club competition in a new environment for all his excellent track record and an audience that he seems to know to persuade.

Speaking of Henderson, Tuchel said: “What he brings to each team is leadership, character, personality, energy. He ensures that everyone lives according to standards and with this characteristic he embodies everything we are trying to build. We try to build a team for our fans and a team they are proud of and can identify with. Jordan embodies everything we want from this team.”

What is worth mentioning is that Henderson does not have to be on the field to give those qualities to the attitude of England. Tuchel noticed specifically at the value of Myles Lewis-Skelly, the Arsenal-Jongere who was in the spotlight for his disciplinary issues and parties, could come as Henderson. The same would apply to Walker.

From a realistic point of view, there are three or four players who can come to Henderson in midfield. Reece James, Tino Livramento and Ezri Konsa could all immediately get minutes before Walker does that and that is a position where England connects holes with Trent Alexander-Arnold injured and white still to build enough fitness. Only because these two old hands are in Tuchel’s first team for the World Cup trip does not mean that they will be on the plane to America. Before that time, however, there is wisdom to give.

How does Tuchel get in line?

The challenge of assessing the composition of this team is that it is not yet clear how Tuchel will use it. In Chelsea he quickly moved to a back three that turned from a fringe champions league side into winners. Early in his career he was just as diligent as a high urgent coach as everyone in Germany, when he landed in Paris Saint-Germain and then in Bayern Munich, adjustments were made for superstar players.

For the time being, Tuchel is planning to play his cards close to his chest on his chest whether he will be in line with three in defense or four. The relative scarcity of central midfielders hints that perhaps a little more like the Chelsea style 3-4-2-1 could be in the making, just like the involvement of Burn, James, Walker and Konsa, all of whom can play a hybrid center back. Like that is, there don’t seem to be many wingbacks in the mix.

“I think we have many options,” was the only thing that Tuchel would give away with regard to his tactical approach. “We have chosen some players because they can play in more than one position. I think the challenge is to combine all these different ideas in one idea and perhaps it is more important than ever that less is more.

“We will not invent new football in the four days that we have before the first game. There will be a lot on video and on the field and then we have to find a structure and identity that suits everyone and that everyone understands quickly and gives everyone freedom to express themselves and show their talent.”

Time for Grealisk to continue

If someone might have hoped that a new boss would have brought new opportunities, it might have been rude. Despite everything that the 29 -year -old illuminated the stage of the bank at Euro 2020, there was always the feeling that Southgate had to be convinced to spend minutes to the playmaker who was the folk champion in Aston Villa. Ten caps since the beginning of 2023 speaks volumes, this is an English and European champion with only 39 caps for his country and only 18 starts.

His prospect to make the World Cup team look like, considering how rarely he has been on the field lately. He is in 16th place for minutes in all competitions in the Pep Guardiola team and the acquisition of Omar Marmoush lays a different body between him and the XI.

In the meantime, his former club has more than one remarkable presence in the forward line of Tuchel. The presence of Morgan Rogers is not a big surprise, more remarkable is that of Rashford. His loan saying from Manchester United is going reasonably well, only one start in the Premier League, but two assists against Chelsea and another against Club Brugge. At least the process is up for a player who seemed to be in the wrong environment in the wrong environment.

Tuchel recognized a lot from that. “With Marcus he is a familiar face but another situation,” he said. “I felt that he had a huge impact at Aston Villa, he had a huge impact of the bank. The impact was impressive. The physical impact was impressive and, above all, his work rate, his defensive capacity, his defensive ability and going back was impressive. I had the strong feeling that we have to nominate him, to fall on that level.

Grealishe looks like someone who also needs it.
