❓ Can PSG mount a comeback in Liverpool?

The Headliner act of Tuesday’s Champions League promotion will be the journey from Paris Saint-Germain to Liverpool, where the Reds hope to hang their thin lead of one goal of last week’s first stage, despite being surpassed by the French champions. The big question that both teams are confronted with: was last week’s game a chance goal or a sign that a dramatic second stage is in the store?
The jury is still to a certain extent on Liverpool. There is no doubt that they belong from the European top teams and will probably have the trophy of the season to prove it -they currently have a 15 -point lead in the Premier League and are the favorites in the EFL Cup final of Sunday against Newcastle United (you can only catch the promotion. Paramount+). However, last week’s trip to Paris has brought a vulnerability that the Reds has quietly followed in recent months. They are still gaining at impressive rates, but their victory margins are getting slimmer – they had an average of 2.52 goals per match for all competitions before the new year and are now at 2.1, and their goals have risen against average from 0.81 to 0.89. Their expected goals are on average also shifted from 2.32 to 2.01 per game, because the consequences of the luminaire congestion come to the game.
The differences in shape are of course marginal and last week’s match at PSG is a babbling compared to their other games this season, regardless of the result. The ability of PSG to surpass Liverpool as they did last week, to surpass them 27 to two and have 70.1% of the ball, is just as well a signal that the Reds should actually deliver on Tuesday, because the visitors have in them to make the second stage just as the first. The first European season of PSG since Kylian Mbappe’s departure is complicated, but last week’s first stage was a huge voice of confidence in the vision of Luis enrique for the team -oriented team. Ousmane Dembele’s eight shots against Liverpool show that he is still in the middle of a great form, while the five shots of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia again prove that he was a great addition in January. If someone can deliver the biggest upset of the Champions League, this might be a PSG team that wants to peak at the right time.

🇩🇪 Leverkusen’s uphill climb against Bayern is getting harder

Bayer Leverkusen may have been completely unraveled during the nightmare-like second half of their 3-0 loss in Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week, but everyone who remembers to see the word “Latekusen” on their timelines for social media time and time again that the Bundesliga camps were reluctant last year.
However, overcoming that three target lack of target will be more difficult than they would like this week. Midfielder Florian Wirtz will miss in the coming weeks with a ligament injury in his right knee, which he suffered in the loss of Saturday against Werder Bremen after he came during the break, but only played 14 minutes. The 21-year-old has easily been one of the most impactful players in Leverkusen with 15 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, and only four players played more minutes than this season.
Where exactly manager Xabi Alonso goes from here is a big question, especially since his team has to complete the unlikely task to come back from a shortage of three goals. Bayern’s own shortcomings in the defense can help things the side of Vincent Kompany has only three clean sheets in 11 Champions League matches this season and come a surprise 3-2 defeat against Bochum during the weekend. Taking out the upset without Wirtz becomes a long task, although Alonso also chooses to frame it as an opportunity to demonstrate something new to Leverkusen.
- Alonso: “I’m very sorry for Flo, especially because he was in a great moment. But this is a good time to show that we are a complete team and that we can win without him. [It’s important] For him we continue in the Champions League, so that he can play Champions League again this season. There is no larger test than tomorrow without Flo. “
