Alex Ovechkin goals tracker: Capitals star three away from breaking Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record

While Ovechkin is at the pace and has a recent impetus, he has little margin for breaking the big record with the regular season. If Ovechkin continues to mark at this rate, there is a chance that Gretzky’s record can be broken on the last day of the regular season, on April 17, or maybe sooner.

Ovechkin currently has 1,616 total points (892 goals, 724 assists) in his career. On March 9, Ovechkin became the eleventh player in NHL history to reach 1,600 points.

Ovechkin scored 42 goals during the 2022-23 season and scored at least 41 goals in 13 of his 19 seasons of the NHL.

He made history in 2023-24 when he recorded a record of the NHL 18th season of 30 Go, going on 17th by Mike Gartner for honor. He is now up to 19 years old for his career.
