2025 NHL playoff picture: Standings, schedule, bracket, seedings as Stanley Cup Playoff field is set

The best time of year is almost here. The Playoffs of the Stanley Cup start this weekend, as 16 teams fight for one of the largest trophies in all sports. The playoff field is completed with all the games of the first round now in stone.

At the Eastern Conference, Washington capitals have obtained the first seed. Finally, the capitals learned that they will face the Canadians of Montreal in the opening round. The Canadians defeated Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 on Wednesday to get the Wild Card’s Playoff end site in the east.

In the meantime, the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues traveled on Tuesday. The Winnipeg Jets will serve as the first seed in the West after winning the presidents’ trophy for the first time in the history of the franchise and will assume the blues in the first round.

Stanley Cup playoffs will officially start on Saturday.

• The first three teams in each division are automatically ranked for the playoffs.
• Each conference has two wild card points.
• The winner of the upper division of each conference will play the second team of Wild Card and the other winner of the division will play the first team of Wild Card.
• The second and third place in each division will coincide with each other in the first round.

*The victories of the regulation are the first tiebreaker and the victories of regulation most overtime are the second tie.
