NWSL Power Rankings: Kansas City Current remain at the top; Angel City FC making strides

The regular season of 2025 NWSL returned after an international break, and that means that my power ranking is officially back. The break came at the perfect time for some teams, and it will see the graph in their bumps, but for others it was more of the same struggles, which means remarkable drops after week four.

We slowly crawl to the quarter of the season, and there are some important differences compared to the ranking of the preseason and some clear changes From week three. Kansas City and Orlando remain in direct competition with each other for the supremacy of the competition, while Chicago had to remind everyone quickly not to write them off so quickly.

I will admit that I love a good profit from birthplace (waiting for the Sweet Home Chicago for me), but it feels like the recent victory of Chicago Stars says more about Bay FC in the long term than about the tactics of the stars.

In addition to my power ranking, the biggest problem of Bay FC consistency in games seems to be and they seem built for a longer trek, so we will see if they will ever be from the bottom half of the assessments. In the meantime, Chicago’s crazy-down Defense and Long Ball Transition Game is still exactly the same game plan that they are known to have a competition, but it gave viewers an incredible goal and party to enjoy.

In the meantime, Gotham FC had to manage some player injuries to start the season, but they finally had a statement game that was not so much to achieve a dominant victory, but how they got it. For all injuries there are several players who return, and the biggest memory is that Gotham has a full schedule that can navigate for a long season. It is a powerful asset and why they still have not fallen into my ranking.

There are only a few weeks to complete the first quarter of the season, so don’t miss an action, because fans cannot watch select NWSL -Regular season matches CBSCBS Sports NetworkParamount+and CBS Sports Golazo Network.

Now, time for our ranking:

2025 NWSL Power Rankings

1.

Kansas City Current

Temwa Chawinga did not score and it didn’t matter because the current current Kansas City looks stronger week after week. Do not be surprised if the MVP channels start for Deinha because she dominates in competitions for the team and the competition is officially aware.

2.

Orlando Proud

Barbra Banda broke a two-game scoreless streak and helped Orlando to maintain a four-match win-streak. Picking up victories in games that feel as grinding, and against respectable competition, will keep the pride sharp during a long season.

3.

Washington Spirit

Head coach Jonatan Giraldez implemented a five-player back this weekend, and to be honest, with the Mexican international Rebeca Bernal as a versatile centerpiece, they can afford to change it and remain unpredictable.

4.

NJ / NY Gotham FC

––

The break came at a good time for Gotham FC, and they had a big reaction offensive after just one goal in three games. Getting Brazilian international geyse, and the return of Jessica Silva and Midge purce will only help the team move forward.

5.

Angel City FC

+3

In a battle for playoff hopeful, Angel City made their mark as a team to be recognized when they made an example of the dashboard during the weekend. Alyssa Thompson is also a candidate who is worthy of MVP-Chatter, and interim head coach Sam Laity has young players and first-year rookies who bloom in starting roles.

6.

Seattle Reign FC

USWNT Vooruit Lynn Biyendolo made her long -awaited debut and the team keeps things competitive early in the season. Nerelia Mondesir looks dangerous in the attack and despite the drop of points, I am not convinced that they still have to drop the ranking.

7.

Houston Dash

-2

Last week I asked if the dashboard was really a candidate for dark horses or a sleeping giant, and their performance from week four felt more like a missed opportunity with some ball looking that led to admitted goals.

8.

San Diego Wave FC

+1

Head coach Jonas Eidevall also does not shy away from playing the younger members of the team. Trinity Armstrong, the 17-year-old Rookie, helped to rule Chawinga from the scoreboard and the group sometimes looked dangerous against an elite opponent.

9.

North Carolina courage

-2

It is not yet a panic hours for courage, but it is absolutely time to ask what the hell is going on. The tactics are there, they have been, but week after week it feels more like this group should find out the ideal starting setup as quickly as possible.

10.

Portland Thorns FC

+3

Midfielder Hina Sugita is perhaps the most important player in a team that still provides herself without Sophia Wilson. Getting victories against Bottom half of teams will help.

11.

Bay FC

Not many ideas from the break for Bay to take advantage of a wrestling chicago. Consistency and 90 -minute performance are still missing in the team and they fall lower in rankings if they do not find the next gear.

12.

Utah Royals

-2

They missed Mina Tanaka in the weekend desperate and Ally Sentnor had the ball with nowhere to go. A group that quickly loses their dark horse status.

13.

Chicago Stars FC

+1

Sometimes you see something so brilliant that things are changing. The stars almost let a result slip away from them, but she finally pushes a brilliant version of Ludmila (with a backflip!) In a place in the ranking.

14.

Racing Louisville FC

A frustrating start to the season is perhaps a bad sign for Louisville in general. On average considerable statistics in games, but not finding the back of the net means that this team stays in the bottom half for a while.
