MLS Team of the Week: Columbus Crew’s Diego Rossi, New England Revolution’s Carles Gil make noise

Sigurd Rosted, Toronto FC: One of the most surprising defensive versions of the week has to go to Toronto FC that protects a shutout in a draw with the Vancouver WhiteCaps. To make that happen, Rosted was completely over defense and the chances of protecting Sean Johnson in the net. Toronto will hope that he cannot do so much every week, but when the team needed something positive to happen, their defense was long.

Midfielders

Carles Gil, New England Revolution: Gil had an absolutely slick free kick the moment of the competition day and then made a stop-time penalty that helped the revolution to secure their first victory of the season. This season they need much more from their star man, but on every week where Gil scores a brace, the revolution will be on their way to victory.

Martin Ojeda, Orlando City SC: Ojeda quickly settles as one of the best midfielders in MLS who scored another goal for Orlando while they left to beat the Galaxy. LA may not meet their high standards from last season, but all points away from home are important in the competition, and Ojeda could help them bring them home.

Djordje Mihailovic, Colorado Rapids: Don’t look now, but Mihailovic already has four goals in all competitions to start his follow-up of a final campaign of 11 goals and 10-assiste season.
