NHL all-time goal leaders: Where does Alexander Ovechkin rank among the best players in history?
Alex Ovechkin is closing in Wayne Gretzky for all time Nhl Objectives Register. In his search for Gretzky, Ovechkin has passed a hockey legend after another as he climbs the top 10.
As a Novio in 2005-06, Ovecchkin settled as a prolific scorer with 52 goals en route to win the Calder Trophy. Since then, Ovecchkin has only kept his rhythm of torrid, while he wins almost all the prizes that a hockey player can expect to place in his trophy.
While flying the list of all time goals, Ovecchkin has joined and stood above the older players who have ever won a couple of skates. In 2022, Ovecchkin took over second place in Gordie “Mr. Hockey” Howe with his 802nd career goal.
Being between Howe and Gretzky (and finally above both) is a good place to be, Ovechkin was already in good company. The three Stanley Cup champion, Steve Yzerman, another Detroit Red Wings legend, is at number 10 on the list.
The only person near Ovechkin who could be considered remotely a modern companion is Jaromir Jag, who has played 24 seasons since 1990-2018. Jagi’s 766 goals are the fourth place in NHL history, but he did the vast majority of this damage before Ovechkin entered the league.
