2026 FIFA World Cup final to have Super Bowl-style halftime show: Gianni Infantino says Coldplay to help plan
The 2026 World Cup final in the Metlife Stadium is the first in the history of the competition with a half -time show, has announced FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Chris Martin van Coldplay helps FIFA “complete the list of artists” that will perform on July 19, 2026, when New York New Jersey will be host for the biggest match in the football calendar. There was no earlier final with rest performance, in 2022 the final ceremony of Qatar took place completely before the start between Argentina and France with versions of Gims and Ozuna.
“I can confirm the first half-time show ever during a FIFA World Cup final in New York New Jersey,” said Infantino on Instagram. “This will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show fits the largest sporting event in the world.”

Midgame -glasses are traditionally seen as the goal of the Super Bowl, where Kendrick Lamar was the headline act Last month in New Orleans. Some of the biggest names in music, including Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen and, indeed, Coldplay, the stage were noticed during the NFL’s showpiece finale, their versions generally last 13 minutes. That is the full half -time break in most American football matches, which means that teams spend about twice as long in the dressing room between halves during the Super Bowl as for regular season matches.
The rest takes 15 minutes in football. The FIFA still has to confirm whether this will be elongated to fit in a half -time show, something that has never been tried in one of the biggest games in the sport. In recent years, the Champions League has moved great artists to a show for the competition, although Camila Cabello and Lenny Kravitz have not drawn particularly delicious reactions from fans in the ground.
Infantino also confirmed a “acquisition” in Times Square that took place during the weekend of the last and third place that plays. He wrote: “This will be two incredible matches, with some of the best players in the world, and what a better way to celebrate them than on the historic Times Square in New York City.”
