2025 WNBA Draft: Paige Bueckers goes 1st, Hailey Van Lith joins Angel Reese in Chicago
The WNBA draft from 2025 took place on Monday, and as expected, the former Uconn Huskies star and NCAA champion Paige Bueckers were number 1 in the Dallas Mavericks.
But how did the rest of the first round of the draft shake out? Here is a look at the first picks in the WNBA draft in the order of the selection, followed by the rest of the design.
1 – Dallas Wings: Paige Bueckers, Uconn
The 5-foot 11 guard of Hopkins, Minnesota, is considered a generation player. Bueckers scored an average of 19.9 points and shot 41.9% behind the 3-point line this season. Bueckers was one of the most efficient players in College basketball and this season played 38 games for the National Champion Huskies and 123 in their career. It will combine Arike Ogunbowale in the background of the Wings. Bueckers was the AP player in 2021 and a three-time AP All-American.
2 – Seattle Storm: Dominique Malonga, France
The 6-foot 6 center played for the French Olympic team last year and has a brilliant future in the WNBA. This season she scored an average of 15.0 points and 10.3 rebounds while playing for Lyon. She is 19 and only turned out in November 20th. But Malonga gave a look at her dazzling athletics last autumn in autumn and quit Lyon.
3 – Washington Mystics: Sonia Citron, Notre Dame
Citron is a 6-foot 1 watch. During her career at Notre Dame, she achieved an average of 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds, where she worked hard on her defense to become one of the team’s best defenders. She also shot over 90% of the free -wire line in the last two seasons, one of the best percentages in the country. Citron started 107 out of 124 games, which were played in Notre Dame in four seasons.
4 – Washington Mystics: Kiki Irial, South California
The 6-foot 3 striker was a star in Stanford before spending her last season at USC. She scored an average of 18.0 points and 8.4 rebounds with the Trojans. Ireaven then raised her game when Juju Watkins went down with an ACL tear and helped the USC for the elite.
5 – Golden State Valkyries: Juste Jocyte, Lithuania
The 6-foot jocyte showed its rating with 22 points against Belgium in the Eurobasket qualification players. She is a versatile player who can play every guard position. It is very effective in the pick-and-roll with a hardness and basic skills that are impressed for someone who turns 20 on November 19.
6 – Washington Mystics: Georgia Amoore, Kentucky
Amoore is a 5-foot 6 watch with a lot of experience and starts 155 out of 157 games in five college season. Amoore scored an average of 19.6 points and 6.9 assists for Kentucky this season after changing from Virginia Tech, where she spent her first four seasons. It comes from a ballarate, Victoria, in Australia.
7 – Connecticut Sun: Aneesah Morrow, LSU
The nation led the 6-foot 1 striker in two double double when it achieved an average of 18.7 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. She is second in this category for a career, behind only the Great Courtney Paris in Oklahoma and more than 100 in her career with her last two seasons at the LSU after playing her first two in Depaul. The Chicago native has a hardness and nose for basketball.
8 – Connecticut Sun: Saniya Rivers, NC State
The 6-foot 1 striker has a season in which she was an all-defensive team of the Atlantic Coast Conference for a second year in a row. She helped to lead Wolfpack to the last four last season. Rivers helped South Carolina to win the 2022 national championship in her first year before the move. The rivers scored an average of 11.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists last season, and started all 35 games. It is also a good message, 1.3 blocks and 1.6 steals.
9 – Los Angeles Sparks: Sarah Ashlee Barker, Alabama
Ended her college career with a school record of 45 points in Alabama’s 111-108 double transfers against Maryland in the second round of the NCAA tournament. In the last two of her three seasons with the purple tide was the first team selection. Spent her first two seasons in Georgia. The 6-foot wachmann, born in Birmingham, is the daughter of Jay Barker, who has Alabama in the 1992 College Football Championship.
10 – Chicago Sky: Aja Sivka, Slovenia
Sivka has a size of 6-foot 4, which makes it a difficult matchup. She is also another European who only turns 20 on November 23. Sivka is a multi -stage hit with efficient shot about. It made over 42% of the 3-point line.
11 – Chicago Sky: Hailey van Lith, TCU
Van Lith is a 5-foot 9 guard that was the first player to play in the Elite Eight in three different teams after reviving her own college career on the TCU. Van Lith scored an average of 17.9 points and 5.4 assists this season when the TCU reached the elite for the first time in school history. Van Lith also has some professional experiences that help the United States win a bronze medal in 3-against-3 at the Olympic Games in Paris in Paris.
12 – Dallas Wings: Aziaha James, NC State
The 5-foot 10 end of Virginia Beach, Virginia, is a two-time all-Acced team player. James played in 105 games in a row to end her career at NC State. She ended her career with an average career high of 17.9 points per game. She also grabbed an average of 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals and started 34 out of 35 games. James shot an average of 44.5% of the ground, 33.3% 3-point range and 75% of the free-wing line.
